It's been a long time...

I know it has been 8 months since the last blog entry...I guess that doesn't make it much of a blog, does it? None the less, that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. Updates since last blog are as follows:

We went to JAMZ Nationals with more girls and more routines than our 1st year and we came home with two 4th place trophies this year. The girls worked extremely hard all year and did a fantastic job and had a great time. Our new competition season starts next month and the new journey to JAMZ  2017 starts along with it. We had our 1st Lady Mustangs Award Ceremony to commemerate our 2 initial seasons in existence and again want to thank those who supported...Avalon Carver Community Center and Kirkpatrick Tyler, all of our coaches and dedicated parents.

We had our 1st Annual School Supplies Giveaway last month and it was a success. We again thank Avalon Carver Community Center for allowing us to host the event there and those who donated and volunteered. Can't wait for next year's event.

We are now planning an Art show and performance fundraiser between Oct. and Nov. and will update you all as the details arrive...

We will end this year on another high note as we plan and execute our 2nd annual Toy and Clothes Giveaway...

We are looking for more support along the way, be it from donations to in-kind donations to sponsorships to grants to volunteers...

Don't hesitate to contact us and get involved.

2 weeks until Nationals

Good afternoon my Movement members old and new and those who will soon join us,

This week's blog entry is dedicated to our #1 priority currently, JAMZ National Championships! This is our 2nd consecutive year we will be competing. Last year we had 1 team of 5 girls and 1 routine. We were blessed to win the Championship! This year we have 9 girls and 3 teams with 3 routines. The same team from last year (minus 1 girl) is returning to defend last year's  championship and are also competing in the Hip Hop dance cagtegory. They are performing a routine that was a vision last year that never came to fruition and was left out. The Southwest Lady Mustangs have worked extremely hard on this routine and I am for one anticipating an outstanding performance. Again we are asking for help and support to get our young ladies to Vegas this year and we have started a
"Go Fund Me" campaign https://www.gofundme.com/swladymustangs" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https/www.gofundme.com/swladymustangs

If you're not able to donate, that is definitely understandable, we just ask that you spread the word to family, friends and anyone else who you think might be able to help. Thank you.

We do have a tune up competition next week at Azusa Pacific University if you can make it out to support. For details contact us at...

2016 A year of Movement Matters

Hello My Name Is Ricky Lee Compton Jr. I am Movement Material's Media Coordinator. This will be our first blog of 2016.

First let me start by saying Happy New Year! I hope that it will bring many blessings. Now lets get to it. We are excited to do what we have dreamed of doing for many years, which is to help our community youth. I hope for those of you who are reading this are just as excited. We ended 2015 on a very positve note. For those of you who have just now got involved with Movement Material Inc., let me get you up to speed. On December 21, 2015 we held out first Annual Toy and Clothes Giveaway. It went on till Dec. 24th 2015. We Donated toys to several families this year. To the families that were'nt able to get transportation we went ahead and delivered the remainder of those toys to them. We would like to thank Koury Ensley (co-workers, family and friends) who donated toys and clothes (C.H.P.) California Highway Patrol whose program "Chips for Kids" also donated some of the toys.Thank you to all that helped with Movement Material Inc's first annual toy drive. Movement Material Inc invited the families and not only gave toys and clothes to the families, but also gave wrapping paper to the parents so that they could wrap the gifts and let their children open them Christmas morning. It was a very joyous day! I dont think there could have been any other way to celebrate christmas other than with my family giving out toys to families this year. This was the best christmas ever. The joy one recieves in doing for others, other than doing for self, let me tell you is just beyond what words can really describe. I hope at some point, those of you who might be reading this want to donate time and get to experience what we did this christmas. You know it doesnt just have to be time you can donate you also can donate funding as well. One of main programs that we offer is the Southwest Lady Mustangs Cheer and Dance Squad. They have qualified for JAMZ Nationals which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada the weekend of Jan. 22-24. There are 2 competotions before than and so many costs associated with it all...most of our girls come from single family homes and the girls have worked extremely hard all season to get to this point. It would be a shame for them not to make it due to financial reasons. If you are not in a position to help financially, you can by spreading the word

This will be a weekly blog and we will keep you updated with a calendar of events for Movement Material Inc and the Southwest Lady Mustangs.
